Teacher Taps Her Way Into Their Hearts
Ashley Thurby-Kolesar, 33, of Uniontown, faces felony charges of intercepting communications, disclosing intercepted communications and criminal use of a communication facility.
According to the criminal complaint, state police began an investigation into Thurby-Kolesar in mid-January amid concerns she was having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student. more video

Former Criminal Justice Professor Bugged Ex's Car
According to criminal complaints, Buffington is accused of placing a recording device on his ex-wife’s car, which recorded conversations within the vehicle.
Police said Buffington took his two daughters to his office at Iowa Wesleyan and played the recordings for them. Later, one of Buffington’s daughters obtained the recording device and a zip drive and gave them to law enforcement. That daughter told police she found it in Buffington’s bedroom nightstand...
Buffington also is accused of placing nails in the tires of his ex-wife’s car and admitting to her that he tracked her via OnStar. more

District Court Judge Meghan Corbin filed a written ruling Monday. According to Corbin’s written ruling:
Bettendorf police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to the tip, a computer hacker in France hacked into the cameras of a home in Bettendorf and reported what he believed were people being unknowingly filmed in intimate moments.
Officers went to the location of the reported cameras, which were in Vanfossen’s Bettendorf home.
Officers searched the home and found two purported smoke detectors that appeared to contain a camera. The first camera was found in the second-floor hallway and the second camera was found inside a family member’s bedroom. more

A man in Macomb Township, Michigan, has been sentenced to 60 days in prison after his wife set up a camera to catch him poisoning her coffee.Therese Kozlowski grew suspicious of her husband Brian Kozlowski - from whom she was going through a divorce - after she noticed she felt unwell whenever he made her a coffee.
She subsequently set up a secret camera in the kitchen which showed her husband was lacing her drink with what turned out to be an antihistamine. more

California Dermatologist Accused Of Trying To Poison Husband With Drano...
Yue “Emily” Yu, 45, was arrested Thursday by Irvine Police after her husband told authorities earlier that day that he'd begun to suspect his wife was poisoning him when he started to feel sick over the course of a month-long period this summer, according a police statement obtained by Oxygen.com.
Yu’s husband, identified in court papers as radiologist Jack Chen, provided police with “video evidence supporting his suspicion.”
In a statement written to secure a restraining order against his wife, Chen described how he set up a secret nanny cam in the family’s kitchen after beginning to feel ill. more

Federal prosecutors said that former Twitter employee Ahmad Abouammo, a U.S. resident born in Egypt who held dual U.S.-Lebanese citizenship, worked as a media partnership manager, helping promote the company while working with journalists and celebrities in the Middle East and north Africa. Feds further claimed that while in that job he had been working as a spy on behalf of the Saudi Arabian government from late 2014 to March 2015.

Shocking new information is now coming out about the South Carolina resident, who is currently out on a $10,000 bond.
Riviere surrendered to South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents last week, who have reportedly collected "substantial" and "overwhelming" evidence against the 66-year-old.
Warrants show that the alleged incidents occurred between April and June 2001, when he filmed the victims “for the purpose of arousing or gratifying … sexual desire.”
But Ryan Beasley, an attorney representing the accuser in that case, said evidence from law enforcement shows 21,000 videos dating back almost 20 years. more

Man Sentenced to Prison for Federal Wiretapping Charge
According to court documents and statements made in court, Holden admitted to secretly recording a video of a woman engaged in sexually explicit conduct in her Logan County home on November 25, 2017. The video was later uploaded to the internet without the victim’s knowledge. The video was one of several secretly recorded videos that Holden had created and posted online depicting the victim.
United States Attorney Will Thompson made the announcement and commended the investigative work of the West Virginia State Police-Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). more

Man Accused of Hiding Cameras at Gym... again
A Shelby Township man accused two years ago of hiding cameras to spy on people at a tanning salon is at it again, Wayne County prosecutors allege.
Brian Michael Maciborski, 40, allegedly placed a camera in the ceiling grate of a gym's tanning bed area to record a 24-year-old Westland woman on Feb. 23, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. more

The Lee County Virtual School Principal faces charges for illegally recording a meeting.
It is an unusual case of consent because Florida Statute 934.03 talks
specifically about the interception and disclosure of wire, oral or
electronic communications prohibited. “Florida is a two-party consent state,” said FGCU Professor Dr. David Thomas. Lee County Sheriff’s deputies arrested (him) for recording a meeting without permission. more

Spycams are reportedly being used by home sellers who want to ink a deal sooner rather than later.
According to a recent LendingTree survey, 3 in 10 home sellers admit to using hidden cameras when they host an open house.The survey, which was commissioned from the experience management firm Qualtrics, notably had a small sample size of home sellers – 346 – compared to home buyers – 1,160 – for a total sample size of 2,050.
Of those sellers who admit to using cameras without notifying buyers, 49% claim they do so to find out what buyers "do and don’t like about their home." more

The actor says he began to grow suspicious that he was being watched after he noticed that his estranged wife somehow knew about private conversations he’d had in his home office either with or about his girlfriend and assistant...In response the actor decided in April to have his home swept for devices that might be spying on him, claiming to have found a camera hidden in one of his smoke detectors. He says the camera had a memory card with more than 10,000 videos stored on it. He believes the camera was installed in August 2020 and had likely been watching him ever since. The actor claims that one of those videos shows Tiffany standing on a ladder installing the spy camera...
Riggle has been granted a temporary restraining order against his ex, and another hearing is set for July regarding his request to have all of the footage obtained from the hidden camera analyzed by a forensic expert. more
